Dr. Jonathan Higgins, a vascular surgeon at Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital, joined other team members and volunteers from the community to helped load a light airplane with medical & other supplies bound for the hurricane-devastated Bahamas. Supplies included bandages, medications, disposable hygienic wipes and generators. The Bahamian native is travelling with the supplies to the island nation to lend his medical expertise and support. He encourages other medical professionals from around the world to also assist by volunteering, providing much-needed supplies, or by making a monetary contribution through Orlando Health’s hurricane relief & recovery fund. Individuals may make any size contribution online by visiting Give.OrlandoHealth.com/HurricaneDorian or an immediate donation of $10 can be made via phone, by texting “RELIEF” to 20222.” Donations will be accepted throughout the month of September, with 100% of the funds collected to be used to administer aid to the growing number of people in need. Orlando Health will ensure funds are sent to reputable relief agencies in a timely manner.
