The Ministry of God’s Servant:
A Study of John 5:1

1 John 5:1 (KJV)
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. The NLT reads, 1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too.
What I see in this verse is that John is telling us that “belief” in the identity of Jesus Christ is essential to not only being saved but to our loyalty to Christ. You cannot be loyal to that which you don’t believe in. You see, this is the Bedrock of salvation! This is where your faith stands or falls! Everything begins and ends with whether or not your faith is in Jesus and in Him alone for your soul’s salvation. John says, in 1 John 4:2, 2 “By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,” In other words, a leopard is known by his spots. If you openly display your loyalty to Christ, the world will know that you are bound to Him by faith. John makes the assertion again in 1st John 4:19, saying, 19 We love Him because He first loved us. We love Him because He first loved us! We know all about mutually shared or reciprocal love. It’s our means of loyal expression to the one who is deserving of affection. We articulate through words, and then demonstrate through actions, our love for Christ, in response to Christ’s love toward us.
When we are young, we sing, “Jesus loves me, this I know…” We learn early that our love for Christ must take on a certainty and the certainty is ‘THIS I KNOW!’ And by the time we mature to adulthood, we are singing with equal conviction, “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” Our hearts are loyally nailed to the same cross on which Jesus Christ died. We are forever indebted to the One who paid it all, who bailed us out of hell and gave us a new hope. We’ve got a covenant relationship with Christ. That COVENANT means we have an agreement, a binding pact, a treaty with Christ. We love Him because He first loved us. There is no way we can repay Jesus Christ for what He has done for us; so we dare not demonstrate anything but loyalty to His position as our Savior. Our heart makes a promise and our mind takes the pledge to be bound to Christ for eternity. “All to Jesus I surrender, all to Him I freely give!” and it doesn’t matter how bad things are, it doesn’t matter how bleak it may look, because of your loyalty to the master and His loyalty to you it’s never too late for your situation to turn around in your life.
And I don’t know who this is for but the Lord’s loyalty has moved some people out of your life right now and you’re wondering why. He’s doing it so you can get ready for your next season because everybody is not ready to go where God is planning to take you and you haven’t learned to leave some people behind. That’s what happens when you have a relationship with Jesus, he will move people, he will shift people and circumstances so that you can adjust your position. All you need is a relationship with Jesus. In other words Loyalty brings favor!!
