The Ministry of God’s Servant:
A Study of Romans 6: 23

Romans 6:23 (KJV)
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The NLT reads, 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
This verse does not only refer to the death of this body, but it refers to the eternal destiny of the lost soul in hell! Dying in this world is one thing, but spending eternity in hell, separated from the presence of God, with no hope of salvation, is the worst thing that can happen to you! That is what happens when you live your life without God and you die lost.
You need to know that men can be dead now, even though they are alive physically because the Bible says in Ephesians 2:1-2, 1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, In other words if I could Spoonerize that for you, you can be alive but a dead man walking. I thought about that point as I listened to all of the ruckus concerning the State Attorney’s decision to not seek the death penalty for Markeith Loyd. You see, what if it was divine providence that led the State Attorney to come to that conclusion? What if she was being used by God to start the chain of events for this evil man who murdered three people and contributed to the death of another, to be saved?
1 Timothy 2:3-4, reads, 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. This verse tells me that God wants all men to be saved regardless of who they are and no matter how evil they may be. Hebrews 9:27-28, 27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
This tells me that when a person dies their opportunity to be saved is over. If they have not accepted Jesus Christ asas their Lord and Savior they will be judged and must face the consequences of total separation from God. That is a hopeless situation. In other words you can’t be saved if you die before accepting Jesus in your heart.
The God News, however, is that the Lord operates on a level that is beyond our comprehension. The Good News is that God wants to give everyone an opportunity. The Good News is God’s time is not our time and His ways are not our ways. Whose time are you on?
