Army Reserve Ambassador Allie Braswell

Mr. Allie Braswell, president & CEO of the Central Florida Urban League in Orlando, FL, was recently selected to serve a three-year term as an Army Reserve Ambassador for the state of Florida. The position, which holds the military equivalent of major general, was created by the Chief, Army Reserve, in 1998, so that private citizens could help promote the Army Reserve at the local community, state and national level. Mr. Braswell was nominated on May 5, by Maj. Gen. William H. Gerety, Commanding General of the 81st Regional Support Command (RSC), Fort Jackson, S.C., and was recently appointed by Lt. Gen,. Jack C. Stultz, Chief, Army Reserve, to serve a three-year term, joining approximately 100 other ambassadors throughout the country. An induction ceremony is planned for September in Charleston, S.C. Individuals selected as ambassadors are leaders in their local communities, involved in community affairs, and will be active in building enduring relationships with other community leaders and organizations to garner support for the Army Reserve. Mr. Braswell, formerly diversity manager at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, is currently head of the Orlando Urban League. As an Army Reserve Ambassador, Mr. Braswell will promote the goals and objectives of the Army Reserve by telling the Army Reserve story to the American people via local civic groups and organizations, and to state and lo- cal elected officials. He will be responsible for providing a variety of briefings to convey the capabilities, skills and value the Army Reserve brings to communities. Mr. Braswell will also meet with other Army Reserve Ambassadors twice yearly to review programs and progress and provide direct feedback to Lt. Gen. Stultz and Maj. Gen. William H. Gerety. The 81st RSC provides base operations support and other services as directed by the U.S. Army Reserve Command to customers in nine southwestern states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) and Puerto Rico, to enable the Army Reserve to meet global requirements across the full spectrum of operations.
